Note: this review will probably/may be a bit inaccurate/tangential, I tend to confuse things and get mixed up with whats happening in front of my eyes. And no, I’m not going to look at imdb – its all from the head unfortunately.

In the company of Men: starring – well the only person familiar to me is Aaron a.k.a TwoFace from the Dark Knight Eckhart. His chin is a sight to behold, it looks like it was crafted from the hammer of Thor, chiselled and fashioned into something mighty. I think he was originally a fifties comic book superhero languishing in a dusty cupboard who was somehow able to break the reality barrier, merge from those dog-eared pages and somehow rearrange himself into real flesh with blood and muscles and the like. So now we have a comic-superhero-looking human male. Anyway, this film was made in the late nineties (1997), so it has that cotton bud softness around the edges, the sharp harshness of the 2000′s is yet to come.
Two men who are working for some company who do something that I don’t know, are both dumped by their respective girlfriends. I’m not going to give the plot away as that would be silly, but basically one of the guys is an asshole sex fiend and the other guy is a balding little snivel with romantic/stalker predilections. They decide to get revenge for the way in which their exes treated them so proceed to hit on a deaf woman working in the company building. They simultaneously date her and then fuck her over to make themselves feel better about their genitalia being trampled on with pointy shiny heels. It was bearable enough to watch, made me glad I don’t wear a shirt and tie – they look so sweaty.
I wonder if the deaf woman is deaf in reality.. she makes convincing deaf-person-talking sounds and is able to lip read.. hmm. Aaron Eckhart is very capable at playing dickheads. The other guy looks like he is on the verge of bursting into man-sized salt tears. One thing that irritated me is that about every ten minutes to indicate the passing of weeks some very loud drum making music was played, it was unnecessary and after about the fourth time a bit “ehhh”.
