Jazz FM in a funk after gay porn gaffe

Station launches investigation after inadvertently airing several minutes of moans and groans

Jazz FM has apologised after it inadvertently broadcast several minutes of what appeared to be a soundtrack to a gay porn film.

The unlikely interruption to the station’s Funky Sensation programme was blamed by management on “unauthorised activity and inappropriate behaviour in the studio”.

The incident during the pre-recorded Saturday night show was mostly wordless but left little to the listeners’ imagination.

Kind of amusing to see 2fm analysed as much as it has been over the past few days. I wasn’t aware 2fm still existed. Dave Fanning is leading the glorious revolution; said revolution aims to ‘reposition the station’ so it appeals more to the 25-44 age group. Up to now it had been aimed at 14 year old chimps and vegetables with a liking for Snow Patrol. Less music more chat, I presume. Although there’s not much point; this ‘chat’ will probably consist of banal texts from the general public, ‘quirky’ celebrity gossip and Big Dave Fanning talking about U2. TO THE POWER OF TEN. Hang on a second, what’s changing? Maybe Nikki Hayes will have a new show about anilingus.

Dave Fanning yesterday.

Fuck all this age-group nonsense. How about just aiming it at intelligent people? I expect that their notion of what the 25-44 age demographic like to listen to will prove as redundant as their ideas of what teenagers wanted. 2fm should just abandon the music altogether. Every single station plays the same shite.

Cian Ó Cíobháin and Donal Dineen, on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Today FM respectively, seem to be the only reasons to turn on a radio any more, and their shows overlap. Oh and that John Kelly fellow. Now he’s a nice man.
