One night I woke up and I didn’t know who I was or what I was doing, my mind seemed to have stayed behind on the pillow whilst my head was empty, devoid of thought or sound. I was very frightened for that tiny millisecond, but then it all came back again as if it had never happened. The brain is always milling away with one strange thought or another. You can be thinking of something and not even realise you are doing it. Some strange or nonsense story going around in your head about making sandwiches so that cats will be able to read. Why do I wake up at times talking babble? The worst moments for that are when you are a small bit tired and bored in a car going on a long journey somewhere, leaning against the window but not being able to sleep as it is fairly hard and uncomfortable. Your mind tries to drift but it is quite difficult to sleep since the hardness irritates your brain which is expecting something soft and downy and pillow like. Not to mention the odd smells of a well used car that can float up your nose and get stuck halfway, giving you a mild tingle on your palate and a funny taste. Tasting smells is quite unpleasant.
