A lot of Americans are angry about the Amanda Knox murder verdict, believing it to be a grave miscarriage of justice. They cite a lack of evidence, biased media reports and general anti-Americanism as reasons for ‘Foxy Knoxy’ being shoved down the laundry chute of life for the next 26 years. Foaming-at-the-mouth Americans are flooding message boards around the world, urging their fellow countrymen to boycott Italy as retribution. The same berks that claim the Italian media are guilty of hyperbole and baseless, crass assumptions without knowledge of what really happened are making, er, baseless, crass assumptions without any knowledge of what really happened. Most of these mouthbreathers know shit-all about the law in their own country, not to mind the Italian legal system. Whatever about the trial, you sure can’t beat the Americans for hypocrisy on a grand scale.

By this, I mean that certain Americans don’t seem to mind grave miscarriages of justice when the accused is not American. You could even say that the Americans have a very arbitrary definition of justice. Think back to the shambolic Lockerbie bombing trial which is chock full of US government double dealing and political intrigue. It was one of the biggest stitch-ups in recent times. This is not some Jim Corr style conspiracy theory, the fact that the trial was a travesty is widely accepted. On top of this, the families of Pan AM 103 victims are denied by governments to this day the truth about what really happened and who was truly responsible. When Ali Mohmed al Megrahi was released in August hysterical Americans urged their fellow countrymen to boycott everything Scottish. Those morons didn’t care one bit that the trial was a sham. There were American victims and this for them is reason enough to blind themselves to the fact that the guy convicted didn’t actually do it. They also whinge that his release was a shady deal, with oil and money at the heart of it. Are you serious America, do governments actually lie in order to get oil?

It looks like Americans will refuse to go on holidays in Italy, such is their anger. Expect holidays in Italy to become a more pleasurable experience for other nationalities over the next few years.
