An American woman has slaughtered an elephant with a bow and arrow… to win a bet.
The Texas-born hunter killed the elephant with a single shot
Teressa Groenewald-Hagerman was so proud, she posted pictures on the internet showing her beaming beside her kill in Zimbabwe.
The 39-year-old huntress said she crept into a herd of 37 elephants, knelt down, and shot the grand creature from just 12 yards.
It staggered 500 yards before it collapsed, then she left it to die overnight.
Wow, twelve yards! How courageous of you.
Disgusting bitch. I hope she tries it again and gets trampled.

I have to just laugh at all you anti-hunters. What a joke you all are, never mind uneducated!
For all of your information any elephant that is legally hunted in Zimbabwe is hunted BECAUSE it is a danger to humans. When an elephant turns nasty the government agency involved i.e. Nature Conservation, lets hunting outfitters tender for the rights to hunt the elephant. Then what happens is the outfitter finds a client who is willing to pay thousands of $$$ to shoot the problem animal. When it is shot the meat feeds hundreds of poor, starving African villagers (who so many of you donate money to every year) and that money can be used to improve the lives of the villagers. Well that’s the way it works in theory, in practice the money probably ends up in some government officials back pocket. If you don’t believe me phone any game reserve (how about the Kruger National Park in South Africa) and ask them what they do to elephants (and lions) that kill a human being.
One other thing, that elephant was dead on its feet, all that kept it going for its last run was adrenalin. It was dead before the hunter packed away her bow.
So my advice to all of you is to educate yourselves in the ways of bowhunting and hunting in Africa before posting such derogatory comments and death threats.

Wow, what a firestorm. A few facts I have from some african friends. One of whom is a former game control officer in the country she scored the elephant in. This was no easy feat. Wild elephants do not let you knowingly approach to this kind of range. If detected she was going to stand a good chance of being killed herself. That’s why they’re “dangerous game”. The countries sell a certain number of licenses every year because otherwise the elephants overpopulate and you get sickness and slow starvation not to mention what they do to crops in a country full of nearly starving people.
Letting the villagers eat it is not a feel good measure but standard practice with each hunt, nothing goes to waste and these elephant hunts provide significant protein to people who need it. In the recent past the villagers would often poach them to keep them out of their fields and to get the meat, not just for ivory. This practice has very much diminished with the new policies.
The game control officers used to just have to go out and shoot the problem herds and no body got the benefit. Now the license money, which is significant, goes into conservation efforts. The meat goes to people who really need. The population pressure is eased and the hunter gets a trophy.
These are not zoo elephants that are tolerant of people. They are smart, dangerous and when overpopulated, destructive animals. They still kill numerous subsitence farmers every year who are trying to save their crops so they can eat.
I still say hats of to the lady, she pulled off a fine feat and Americans are far, far from the only sport and trophy hunters in the world. In fact we do a better job of managing it than many countries.
